                                    PART I

There was a time, long ago, when the angels of heaven did battle. Satan commanded the dark angels, and Michael led the angels of light. They both sought dominion, but for very different reasons…

“The time has come to remind your brothers that their will is free. There is no growth where there is only blind adoration and acceptance. You have always understood this but the others have not, and so I will ask something of you that I would ask of no other. And because of this, mankind will blame you for their sins, and men and angels alike will turn from you. But the day will come when you will find yourself with my love and the love of others who have never lost faith surrounding you like a shield. For what you do, you do in my name, and I will hold onto you tightly, never once letting go.”

And not every angel fought the war…

“Why? Why must you do this?”

“There is no place for you here anymore. Go now. Go with those who have chosen not to fight.”

    “But—”

    “It is done.”

“Don’t do this terrible thing! And what of Michael? He will have to fight.”

“No. He will have to choose, just as you have chosen.”
“You have given me no choice. You have given us no choice.”
    “Us? There is no us.”
